A Weekly Threat Assessment of the Diplomacy Community

7 Little Dippers Story
I think one of the benefits that online diplomacy shares with the postal hobby of the past is how friendships form based on personality alone.  The multiple online diplomacy platforms have developed thriving communities, and often there is as much fun off the board as in the games themselves.
On Halloween, the Nexus discord server began a collaborative story based on Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None.  An online poll was conducted on who from the Nexus should be the characters in the story and close to 150 votes were cast.

The plot of the story centers on 7 diplomacy players who have been invited to an island for the greatest game of diplomacy ever.  Little do they know that one of their members plans to kill them all.

Nine different people contributed to the story.  It was an eclectic group that included all different age groups and was truly an international endeavor with 5 different countries represented.  What was produced was a story full of inside jokes and narrative dead ends.  You can read Seven Little Dippers by the Nexus Diplomacy Community.as a html, google doc, or pdf.

Build Phase at the Heep Home
Mr. and Mrs. Heep are proud to announce the building of a new unit in their home supply center.  Said unit arrived on November 21st, weighing in at 7 pounds and 11 ounces.

The full characteristics of the new unit have not been determined.  Judging by the vocal cords though they have a warrior on their hands.  The unit is definitely a fleet due to the unending emittance of liquidity.  Daddy Heep immediately placed a conference map on the side of the crib so that no time would be lost in acquainting little Carrie with the most vital facts of life.

There is cause for concern nonetheless with her older brother eyeing solo opportunities.  The unit is being heavily supported though by both Mr. and Mrs. Heep.  A four-way draw may end up being the best outcome. – Inspired by the Postal Zine Bushwacker

The Diplomacy Handbook
The Diplomacy Handbook was a zine that was published annually and in the first edition had the goal to cover the many aspects of postal play.  The zine as with many things in diplomacy was short-lived and only lasted from 1973-1977.  If you wish to read more postal zines from this period be sure to visit the Diplomacy Zine Archive.
